I hate when people that know nothing about surfing try and post the idea of someone surfing a tsunami wave... yeah, we surfers commonly have a helicopter and film crew on que waiting for use to catch a giant wave generated by an earthquake halfway around the world.

it's all we can do to predict a solid wind swell and get our buds to get a few decent pics...

But that's not a tsunami. Tsunamis don't break, they go on rushing and overflooding litoral's shallow and surface, smashing all around, often in more than one consecutive wave. It's an earthquake, not a common marée wave.
